Coyoacan
This large area located in the southwest of Mexico City, is a counterculture hotbed. Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived here, a few blocks away from Leon Trotsky (now their houses are the Frida Kahlo Museum and the Leon Trotsky Museum), has a tranquil residential area, with many parks, squares, and cobblestone streets, and now is the favourite spot for hippies, goths, musicians and artists. You will find many cafes and great restaurants in this area, and large open air markets along the squares, dedicated mostly to arts, crafts and clothes.
