Lido

LidoLido is an island (actually, a sandbar) in Venece, that splits the sea and the lagoon, very famous nowadays for its Movie Festival held every year. Back in 1920 it used to be the most important beach in Italy, and still maintains its aristocratic atmosphere. You can enjoy the beach bathed by the Adriatic Sea, ideal for swimming. A couple of interesting facts: Thomas Mann wrote "A Death in Venice" on this island, and some scenes of "The English Patient" were shot here, inside the Hotel Des Baines.
