The Volkstheater founded in 1889 in Vienna, by the request of its citizens, to have a "popular theater". It was designed by Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, with the idea of exposing classical and modern literature for the "common" citizens of Vienna. The theater follows this tradition in present days, with new production of classics.
